Project Overview
A new dog park for City of Casey at Sweeney Reserve, Berwick, built on a flood zone site that called for significant drainage works. The scope took in carpark renewal in crushed rock, soft and hard landscaping, a shelter, furniture, fencing and signage, along with dedicated dog areas including a sandpit and rock obstacles. Together the works turned a difficult, flood-affected site into a well-set-up space for dogs and their owners.
Scope of Works
Dog park construction
Significant drainage for flood zone
Carpark renewal in crushed rock
Soft and hard landscaping
Shelter, furniture and fencing
Dog areas including a sandpit and rock obstacles
Challenges
Building in a flood zone through a run of very wet weather, where managing water on the ground was the main hurdle. The drainage works had to carry the load to keep the site usable, both while the crew were building and once the park opened.
Outcome
A strong result on a challenging site, giving dogs and their owners a space with several areas to use, explore and socialise in, set up to handle the water the site throws at it.
