Civil Works

Roads, pavements and traffic safety works for local government

Our civil works cover the everyday infrastructure councils rely on, from full road reconstructions through to speed humps,
pedestrian platforms and Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) schemes.

APS Drainage & Civil delivers civil works for councils across South East Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, with a multi-skilled in-house team and a modern fleet that includes
excavators, graders, rollers, profilers and pavement equipment.

Built to engineering, council and Australian Standards

Civil infrastructure forms the backbone of every functional community. As Melbourne’s growth corridors expand
and existing assets reach end-of-life, the demand for properly constructed roads, pavements, and public realm infrastructure has never been greater. APS brings extensive experience in delivering civil works that adhere to engineering designs, council standards, and Australian Standards, ensuring every project performs as intended for decades to come.

Built around live road environments

Most of our civil works happen on roads that need to stay open. We coordinate traffic management, community communications and stakeholder access from the first shift through to reinstatement, with experienced supervisors making the on-site calls that keep the programme moving without putting road users or workers at risk.

Why APS for Civil Works

Council-Ready Delivery

APS works almost exclusively with councils across South East Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula, with annual supply agreements held across the region. We understand council processes, compliance requirements and reporting standards, and our crews are set up to meet them on every project.

Built to Perform Under Traffic and Time

Civil infrastructure has to perform for decades, not just pass first inspection. Our crews work to council specifications, IPWEA standards and Austroads design guidelines, with
subgrade preparation, pavement layer construction and surface treatments delivered properly the first time.

Safety Built into Everything We Do

We invest heavily in safety programmes, training and
accreditations to protect our team, our clients and the public. Every civil project runs under our integrated management
system, with site-specific SWMS and traffic management plans in place from day one.

Sustainable Construction Practices

We source recycled materials and reclaimed asphalt where specifications allow, manage spoil and waste responsibly, and implement erosion and sediment control plans on every site.

What We Do

Roadworks and Pavement Construction

Construction and
reconstruction of urban and rural roads, including subgrade preparation, pavement layer construction and surface
treatments. Delivered to
council specifications and Austroads design guidelines across flexible and rigid
pavement systems, from minor works through to full road builds.

Asphalt works and reinstatement

Asphalt placement, resurfacing and pavement repairs across council road networks,
including reinstatement of road, kerb and footpath assets following service works. Our operators work in live traffic
environments and around
existing services, with profilers and pavers on the books for full-depth and overlay works.

Speed humps and road safety platforms

Construction of speed humps, raised pedestrian crossings and school zone safety
platforms. Delivered with
site-specific traffic
management plans and full
reinstatement, in line with council blackspot and traffic calming programmes.

Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) schemes

Delivery of LATM packages
including blackspot treatments, traffic calming measures and pedestrian safety upgrades. Coordinated with council
project managers, residents and road users to keep
disruption to a minimum across the programme.
