Project Description
Overland flow and erosion on an active parkland site need a solution that manages water
without creating an eyesore in a space used by the community every day. The WSUD device at
Ruffey Lake Park was built to do both.
Manningham City Council engaged APS Civil to construct the device. Works included swale
construction, installation of large corten steel barriers to form a retaining dam, rock armouring
with landscaping, a small culvert and fencing.
Corten steel was chosen because it weathers naturally to suit the parkland. The completed
device manages water flows while sitting unobtrusively in the landscape
