Kernot Road Culvert Upgrade

Project Information

Description: Culvert Upgrade
Location: Kernot
Client: Bass City Council
Duration: 6 weeks

Project Description

Replacing an end-of-life 2m culvert under a live road sounds straightforward on paper. In
practice, managing constant water flow while excavating for 1800mm pipe under a rural road
takes careful planning and on-site judgement.

Bass Coast Shire Council engaged APS Civil for the full culvert replacement, including plant,
labour, tools and materials. Melbourne Water permits and approvals were required before works
began, with water flow management central to the programme.

APS Civil delivered site establishment, clearing and continuous de-watering, followed by full
excavation and installation of approximately 40 lineal metres of 1800mm pipe. Two 1800mm
endwalls were constructed, structural grout fill completed, and rock beaching installed at both
endwalls and surrounds

  • Melbourne Water permit and approvals
