Emerald Park Lake Bank Stabilisation

Project Information

Description:
Location:
Client: Cardinia Shire Council
Duration: 8 weeks

Project Description

APS Civil has worked at Emerald Park Lake for more than five years, delivering multiple projects
on one of Cardinia Shire’s most environmentally sensitive and publicly visible sites. The site’s
sensitivity, active wildlife, restricted access and Melbourne Water requirements mean every
project there takes a more considered approach than standard earthworks or drainage.

Recent works have included bank stabilisation at Lake Treganowan, with 400 lineal metres
of rock from 400mm to 1200mm installed over water to stabilise the bank. A separate
scope involved desilting a large upstream lake with restricted access, requiring complex de
watering, removal and disposal of approximately 400 cubic metres of unsuitable material, and
construction of a rock weir within the lake.

Across both scopes, water levels were actively managed to protect existing wildlife while
enabling construction to proceed safely.

Scope of Works:

  • Water level management for wildlife protection
  • Rock wall construction (400mm to 1200mm rock sizes)
  • De-watering and desilting with restricted access
  • Rock weir construction
  • Material transport and disposal
