Commercial Place Streetscape Upgrade

Project Information

Location: Drouin
Client: Baw Baw Shire Council
Service Category: Civil and Open Spaces
Duration: 4 months

Project Overview

A streetscape upgrade along Commercial Place in Drouin, delivered for Baw Baw Shire Council. The works reconstructed two pedestrian laneways and one shared laneway, renewed footpaths and kerb and channel, built new raised pedestrian crossings, and added urban landscaping through the precinct. The result is a safer, more connected section of the town centre with a refreshed public space.

Scope of Works

Kerb and channel
Footpaths
Drainage
Raised crossing platforms
Asphalt
Landscaping

Challenges

The works sat in the middle of an active town centre, so keeping the public moving safely through the precinct was the main consideration. With pedestrians, shoppers and businesses relying on continuous access, the laneways and footpaths were staged so people could still get through while construction was underway, with the work area shifting as each section was completed.

Outcome

A strong result for the local community, giving Drouin’s town centre a tidier, more attractive streetscape and infrastructure that is easier and safer to use day to day.
